Raise Money Online For An Animal Shelter

Animals shelters need funds to keep running.

Animal shelters may have some grant funding, but this is rarely enough to keep the animal shelter running all year. Fundraising is one way to fill the financial gap left after the grant money is used up. There is no need to go door-to-door selling candy, or organizing car washes to raise money. The Internet provides fundraising pages that can reach a large number of people at once, so that animal shelters can raise the maximum amount of funding.

Instructions

1. Create a goal. The goal should be in line with what you believe you will need for the entire year. Take the amount you need to run the shelter for the year and subtract out any funding you have already received. This will give you the goal you need to meet.

2. Set up an online fundraising page. Websites like Network for Good and First Giving can help you do this. You can describe your animal shelter, put up pictures of the animals and list your financial goal. You will also be able to track how much is raised and see at a glance how much money is still needed.

3. Sign-up with a website that donates a portion of online shopping sales to charity, such as iGive. This is free and only takes a minute to set up.

4. Send out an email with a link to your fundraising page and your website shopping page. Ask that all the email recipients forward the email to everyone they know.

5. Post the link on Facebook, MySpace and Twitter. Once the links to your pages go viral you will begin to see the donations coming in.
