Organizing a room for a baby is one way expecting parents curb their anxiety and survive the wait to adopt. Waiting for a pregnant woman to choose your family and then waiting for the baby to be born are stressful times for families waiting to adopt. Your family may have waited several months or even years to be chosen to adopt a baby. Even then you may wonder, "What if, she changes her mind when the baby is born?" Organizing the baby's room can be therapeutic, taking your mind off of what might happen. How do you organize a baby room while waiting to adopt? Does this Spark an idea?
Instructions
1. Leave enough open space to allow you to move easily around the baby's room as you organize it. You may be tempted to purchase too many items for the baby while waiting to adopt. Remember you will be carrying your baby, sometimes in the dark, and you do not want to trip over or run into furniture.
2. Purchase a dresser that can double as a diaper changing area to minimize the pieces of furniture in the room. Some infant dressers come with a changing pad and straps already attached to help prevent baby from falling. Place diapers, wipes, clean T-shirts or pajamas, and clean receiving blankets in the top drawer to deal quickly with dirty diapers and spit-up.
3. Place a comfortable rocking chair near the baby's crib. Nighttime feedings in the quiet dimly lit bedroom will help baby return to sleep faster and allow you to be comfortable.
4. Find a small table to set next to your rocking chair. Consider keeping your baby milestone book there to enter new accomplishments at the end of the day. Place a lamp on the table that can be dimmed during nighttime feedings, or while rocking a fussy baby. You can also set bottles on it while burping your baby.
5. Choose window curtains that are thick enough to prevent unwanted light from coming into the baby room and help reduce noise. Use layers of curtains if necessary to accommodate your choice of fabric. Simple measures can help your baby develop good sleeping patterns early in life.
