Apply For Child Custody In Orange County Virginia

Apply for child custody through the Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court.


Parents or guardians wishing to apply for child custody in Orange County, Virginia need to go to the Orange County Office of Juvenile and Domestic Relations Courts. The court also handles child support and visitation rights. In order for the child custody application to be processed, at least one parent must be a resident of Orange County. The children do not have to be in the county for the application to be valid.


Instructions


1. Fill out Form DC-573. This form is the Custody/Visitation Order and is used to apply for custody of a child. The form requires basic information such as full name, address and permission to access financial and insurance information.


2. Fill out Form DC-574. This form focuses on information the court will consider in child custody and visitation proceedings. The questions the form asks are intended to help the judge render a ruling that is in the best interests of the affected child/children.


3. Photocopy both forms before submitting the originals to the Orange County Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court.
