Petfinder is an online database that allows shelters and rescue organizations to register pets that are available for adoption. Petfinder does not allow individuals, such as breeders, to register pets for adoption. Petfinder helps connect displaced animals with new families. If your organization receives a new pet that you would like to put up for adoption, you'll need to register the pet with Petfinder.
Instructions
1. Sign into your Petfinder account using your shelter ID and password. If you don't have a Petfinder account, you'll need to create one. Only rescue groups and adoption shelters can register pets with Petfinder.
2. Click "Add New Pet" from your shelter administration page. Select the type of pet, size, breed, etc., and then add photos (recommended) using the photo-upload wizard.
3. Add a description of the pet. Include any relevant information, such as whether the pet is child-friendly or not. Review all of the pet's information for accuracy.
4. Scroll down and click "Add Pet" to register your pet with the online searchable database.
5. Delete your pet once it is adopted. To delete your pet, sign in and access the "Pet List" through your administration page. Place a check next to the pet you want to delete. Scroll down and click "Delete."
