Do Not Call Law In Connecticut

"Do Not Call" laws mean you can report telemarketers that continue to contact you.

Telemarketers operating in all states, including Connecticut, must abide by the Do-Not-Call Improvement Act of 2007. This law prevents telemarketers from harassing you over the phone.

What It Is

The Do-Not-Call Improvement Act of 2007 became a law in 2008, making it illegal for telemarketers to call if you have previously stated that you do not want to receive telemarketing calls.

How It Works

Residents of any state can enter their name and phone number into the National Do Not Call Registry. It is illegal for telemarketers to contact you on any phone number you register. You can take your number off the Do Not Call Registry at anytime by calling a toll free number provided by the Federal Trade Commission.

Reporting Violations

If you live in Connecticut and continue to receive telemarketing calls after having registered your number, you can file a complaint with the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection or directly with the National Do Not Call Registry. Telemarketers that continue to call registered numbers in Connecticut can pay a fine of up to $25,000.
