Do It Yourself Truck Bed Lining

Do-it-yourself truck bed lining saves time and hassle.

Do-it-yourself truck bed lining is a viable alternative to pre-cut and installed plastic, fiberglass or other composite types of bed liners. Do-it-yourself applications will save both the cost of professional installation and the hassle of taking your truck into a service center and having to wait until the job is done. You can apply this liquid truck bed lining using readily available painting tools, and it will protect the truck bed and tailgate from weather and usage wear and tear. These products are available at auto supply shops, hardware stores and online.

Instructions

1. Fill a bucket with a soapy dishwater mix, and thoroughly wash out the bed on your truck. Rinse it completely with a fresh water source. Allow to dry.

2. Scuff the bed of your truck using an abrasive pad or a scuff pad. Most do-it-yourself bed lining kits will contain these items, but if not, they can be found at any hardware or automotive store. Scuff the entire bed so the liquid liner can grab on and stick to the metal bed.

3. Tape off any areas around the bed that you do not want to inadvertently cover with lining liquid. Cover light fixtures, latches, locks and hinges with masking tape.

4. Open the can of bed liner and roll the liner liquid onto the bed just like you are painting a wall. Use a brush to paint hard-to-reach areas, and completely cover the bed and the tailgate.

5. Allow to dry for several hours before driving or placing anything onto the bed.
