Virtual pets are computer-simulated animals that require users to care for them as they grow. As technology advances, these simulated pets have become increasingly realistic, allowing for more hands-on game play. Realistic virtual pets can be used as a stepping stone for young children who would like their own pet, yet may not be responsible enough to care for her. Because the pets are virtual, it will also allow for a wider variety of animals, such as unicorns, monkeys, wolves and tigers.
Instructions
1. Open your Web browser and navigate to a realistic virtual pet website, such as Foopets, AVirtualHorse or Happy Pets. The link to these websites can be found in "Resources."
2. Click the "Sign Up" button. This is usually located at the top of the screen.
3. Enter your information, such as birthday and email address. You will then be directed to a screen that allows you to start creating your own virtual pets. Select the realistic information you would like your pet to have. For example, for dogs, you may select your preferred breed, then will have the option to select realistic coloring based on your choice of breed. For horses, you will be able to select the breed you would like to base your animal off of, then choose the type of mane, coloring and spots that the breed of horses is likely to have in the wild. You will also be able to customize the name and gender of your animal.
4. Check your email for a confirmation notice confirming your account information. Click the link in the email and you will be directed to the virtual pet website. You will now be able to play with, feed and interact with your virtual pet.
5. Log into your account often to care for your pets. Because they are realistic pets, they require care multiple times throughout the day. For example, horses may need to be groomed and exercised daily, while puppies need to be fed, trained and have their messes cleaned up. Failure to do so can result in the animal's becoming sick and dying, much like a real pet.
