Petz 2: Catz and Petz 2: Dogz
The Petz series is a long-established classic in the pet-raising world of games. In these games, it's purely about looking after your animals: whether you get the Catz or Dogz edition, you'll see many of the same features. Bathe and clothe your pet, take photos of them, take them for walks, play games with them, see how much they love or hate the various tools and toys you have in your arsenal, and even take them fishing. These animals are largely self-sufficient, but it's up to you to solve some puzzles, watch them interact and guard over them as you explore the forest with them. You can unlock new areas, move trees and form lakes as you play. The animals will display personalities, and strange alliances will form as you watch. It takes pet-raising to a new level: watching these animals in their natural habitats.
Harvest Moon: Tree of Tranquility
Few farmers grow really attached to their livestock; even fewer would classify them as pets. Then again, the Harvest Moon series hasn't always done farming by the book. In a new twist with the pet genre, Harvest Moon puts you in charge of a farm, which you can fill with livestock, as well as ride your horse and walk your dog around. In this game, players quickly grow attached to the sheep, cows and chickens they raise, but they also benefit from the relationship, as the wool, milk and eggs turn into profit for your farm, allowing you to purchase new crops, additions to the home, and eventually start a family.
