Rescue A Chihuahua In California

Chihuahuas are small and frisky with big attitudes. Chihuahuas are lovable, funny and loyal. They also bark and may be nippy. Because of their tendency to bite and delicate size, Chihuahuas do not do well in homes with children or big dogs. California shelters and rescue groups usually have many Chihuahuas that need new homes.

Instructions

1. Foster for "Chihuahua Rescue" in California. Chihuahua rescue is very active and saves many Chihuahua from certain death. Foster homes provide a safe haven for a dog until he is adopted. Foster homes participate in behavior training and evaluations to match the dog to the right family.

2. Foster for a California based all breed dog rescue group. All breed dog rescue groups work with shelters and owners to take in homeless pets and find new homes for them. Offer to foster Chihuahuas that the rescue saves. Find a local all breed rescue on "Pet Finder."

3. Contact your veterinarian, pet sitter or groomer. Families that want to find a new home for their Chihuahua will usually contact their pet care professionals. Let your veterinarian know that you are available to rescue a Chihuahua.

4. Visit local animal shelters. Shelters throughout California have Chihuahuas and sadly, many will be killed. Rescuing a Chihuahua from a shelter truly is saving a life.

5. Watch the pet community on "Craigslist." California has a very active pet community on "Craigslist." The pet community is where people post information about pets that need new homes. Chihuahuas are regularly posted. Try to get as much information as possible about any dog that you rescue, including a veterinarian reference.
