Donate Used Toys

Help others by donating used toys.

Donating used toys can be beneficial in a variety of ways. Giving away items that are no longer used helps de-clutter and reorganize your home. Donating used toys can also be a rewarding experience for children. By donating, children learn to share and have compassion. Many organizations accept toy donations.

Instructions

Decide Which Toys to Donate

1. Analyze which toys your child no longer uses for play. Cull toys that no longer keep your child's attention or interest.

2. Include your child in the decision-making process, if possible. Your child will feel better about the experience and gain the satisfaction of giving to others if she is involved.

3. Check the toys that you plan to donate to make sure they have no broken parts and that they work properly. The toys can be gently used but should not be beyond use. Adding batteries, if needed, is a nice gesture.

4. Place the used toys in a bag or box for easy toting.

Find a Place That Accepts Used Toys

5. Check with nonprofit stores that accept and sell donated items.

6. Ask at local schools and day-care centers about any children in need of toys.

7. Call local shelters, Red Cross branches, churches and state service agencies to ask where toys are needed.
