Make A Bull Buck

Bulls are bred to buck.

You can't make a bull buck if the animal does not have the desire to do so. Well-designed breeding programs are utilized to develop bucking bulls. These bulls love to buck and the challenge of dislodging a rider. A good analogy of bucking bulls are race horses. Both animals are bred, trained and groomed for a particular sport. They are fed high-protein diets, given plenty of clean water, provided spacious pasture and vaccinated against disease. If they need medical care, they receive it immediately. They are pampered because they will not perform well if they are sick or underfed.

Instructions

1. Make a dummy by sewing an old pair of pants and shirt together. Sew the ends of the shirt sleeves and pant legs together so they remain closed. Stuff the clothes with straw, cotton, waded paper or other materials. Cram stuffing into the closed end of a pillow case to make the dummy's head. Push the open end of the pillow case into the shirt and sew it to the collar.

2. Put a bull into a bucking chute and set the dummy on his back. Attach a cotton rope, chinch strap, or other soft material to the bottom of one pant leg. Run the rope or strap underneath the bull's belly and attach it to the other pant leg. Secure the dummy to the bull tightly enough for it to stay on the animal's back.

3. Fasten a piece of 3/4-inch cotton rope around the bull's flanks. Secure it tightly enough to stay in place but not enough to impede the animal's movement. Open the chute gate and see if the bull tries to buck off the dummy. If he does not, you don't have a bucking bull.
