How As A Teenager Help The Homeless

Volunteering is an excellent way to help the less fortunate.

Helping the homeless in your community is an important way to give back to your community, meet other teenagers and people who share your morals and values, and build up an impressive resume for your college application. As a teenager, you may feel like you do not have the resources necessary to truly the impact the lives of the homeless. However, many communities welcome the help of teenage volunteers and are excited to help teens explore opportunities to give back.

Instructions

1. Respect the homeless people in your community throughout your daily life. Be kind to any homeless or needy children in your school whom other students may pick on. Refrain from making jokes about homeless people with your friends in high school. Always share a smile with the homeless instead of treating them poorly.

2. Join a volunteer organization through your school or religious organization. Many schools offer extracurricular activities based around volunteering and helping the community. Places of worship also often have youth groups that participate in fundraisers and events to help the homeless. If your school or religious center does not have such a group, consider starting one.

3. Donate part of your weekly allowance or some of the money that you make at your job to the homeless. Locate a homeless shelter or organization that helps the homeless, and donate the money to them to make sure that the money gets into the right hands and is used to help many people.

4. Volunteer your time at a local homeless shelter, soup kitchen or food pantry. These places often have a need for teenage volunteers who are willing to work to help the homeless. Round up a group of friends and spend the afternoon volunteering for an organization to help the homeless instead of going to the mall or out to eat.
