To Give A Memorial Gift To The Spca

Giving a memorial gift to the SPCA is a wonderful way to help an animal in need.

Since its inception in 1866, the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals has helped millions of abused, unwanted and abandoned animals in the United States. Hundreds of similar organizations throughout the country, such as the Pennsylvania SPCA and the SPCA of Texas, operate independently of each other ad rely on the financial support of private donors . Donations provide the resources necessary to conduct cruelty investigations, adoption outreach and animal care. At the SPCA of Texas, for example, the cost of food, medical attention and care of three shelter dogs is $1,000 a year. A memorial gift to any SPCA branch is an easy and tremendously loving way to commemorate the life of a lost loved one.

Instructions

1. Locate the branch where you want to give a memorial gift. Most SPCA establishments are independently owned and operated. For example, if you want your gift to help animals in the greater Philadelphia area rather than Dallas, go the Pennsylvania SPCA website and vice versa.

2. Click the "Donate" button. The homepage of most SPCA organizations will prominently feature a donation button, though the exact location on the web page may vary.

3. Select the "Memorial Giving" tab on the donation page. The exact wording of the tab, such as "Gifts in Memory" or "Memorial Giving, " may vary by organization.

4. Enter the amount you would like to donate and your payment information. Some organizations allow you to choose which projects your gift will support, such as cruelty investigations or medical treatment. Other groups do not allow you to specify the allocation of your funds.

5. Enter the honoree information. Also enter the contact information of anyone else, such as the spouse or sibling of the honoree, you would like to notify about your donation . If you don't provide this information, the SPCA branch will not be able to send a letter to the deceased's relatives acknowledging your donation.

6. Enter your payment information, such as a credit or debit card, and wait for an email confirmation. The organization will typically follow up with a written letter of acknowledgment within a few weeks.
