Ideas For Rescue Heroes Birthday Parties

Have children dress the part of heroes for the party.

"Rescue Heroes" are action characters created by the toy giant Fisher-Price in the late 1990s. The characters include doctors, firemen, police officers and even construction workers. The concept of action heroes lends itself well to a child's birthday party in that the children will be enthusiastic about playing the various hero characters. The theme also sends a positive message to the children about the types of people who are everyday heroes in real life. Does this Spark an idea?

Costumes

Make sure the invitations say the party theme is "Rescue Heroes," and encourage the children to dress up as their favorite rescue hero. Provide each invitee with a list of the various types of rescue heroes, such as doctors, policemen, firemen and astronauts. At the party, take a photo of each child in their costume and send the photo to each child's family as a bonus favor inside the party thank you cards.

Rescue Games

Divide the children into teams, and create a scavenger hunt rescue mission for them to play. Tell the children that someone is in dire need of help, and they must try and find him. The team to reach and saves the endangered individual first wins a prize. Create a series of clues that lead the children around the party venue. At each new clue hiding spot, leave another clue leading to the next location. The last clue should lead the children to a tree or a bush that has a toy cat perched on it. The winning team saves the cat from being stuck in the tree.

Refreshments

Decorate the cake to depict the favorite rescue character of the birthday boy. For example, if he prefers the fireman rescue hero, craft the cake in a fireman theme. Bake a sheet cake and once it has cooled, trim it until it takes the form of a fireman's hat. Frost the cake with red frosting and add a badge to the front in icing for added detail.

Decorations

Place caution tape around the walls and doorways to resemble a work or construction site. Place orange traffic cones around the rooms and on the front steps to mark the party entrance. Blow up balloons in rescue hero colors, such as red for a fireman, yellow for a construction worker and blue for a police officer. Create designated rescue hero rooms by grouping the colors together in specific rooms. For example, in the police officer room, use only blue balloons. Hang posters of police officer rescue heroes and cardboard cutouts of police officer badges in the room.
