Becoming an animal cop is an important and competitive job. The requirements for become an animal cop vary depending upon the city and state. Entry level positions may require the following: High School Degree/GED, complete background test including drug test & polygraph test and clean record. Many will require advanced degrees such as 12-18 units in courses such as Animal Science, Animal Management, Administration of Justice or related work. They may also require specific experience such as one year experience performing animal control and maintenance. Many cities also require a physical abilities test and written test (basic math, writing and reading skills).


2. Schools for Animal Cops


If you are interested in getting a Bachelors, choose degrees such as Animal Science or Animal Management. If you are positive you want to be an animal cop, consider going to the National Animal Control Academy, although this is not required. Check for specific certifications available in your city/state. 3. Applying to be an Animal Cop


You will want to apply at your local city's police department. This is the first place to start. Strongly consider calling for information as soon as you are interested in this field.
