Donating to charity is something many people do, whether to feel good about doing something for others to simply for the tax deduction charitable donations provide. All charitable contributions made to 501(C)3 corporations registered with the Internal Revenue Service are eligible for taxpayers to claim as itemized deductions on federal income tax returns. When you decide to donate to charity consider donating to one that supports a cause for which you are passionate.

You might have to leave your job, your home and your lives to be with your child while he undergoes treatment. The Ronald McDonald House provides housing for families whose children are undergoing medical treatment far away from home so families are not separated; the housing is very low cost or free to families who need it. Your donations will help provide housing to a family so they don't have to leave their very sick child.
