Cure Diarrhea For A Bichon

Bichons are happy and hardy dogs, but sometimes are prone to bouts of diarrhea.

Bichons are generally happy and cheerful dogs. They're small, sturdy, compact and hardy. Bichons have seemingly boundless reserves of energy, and they're playful and agreeable companions. Still, like most dogs, they can develop diarrhea. Often the cause is as simple as a change in diet or environmental stress factors. The diarrhea may not affect your bichon's energy levels or personality, but it needs to be treated. If you act promptly, you may be able to resolve this health issue within 2 to 3 days.

Instructions

1. Cut the amount of the food you are feeding your bichon in half. His intestinal system is obviously in distress. The less work it has to do, the better.

2. Feed your bichon a bland diet until the diarrhea is resolved. Try a mix of 1/3 cup meat--such a boiled chicken or hamburger--and 2/3 cup rice with each meal. A spoonful or two of cottage cheese may be added. Do not add any oils or fats to your dog's diet at this time.

3. Provide lots of water for your bichon. Mix unsalted chicken broth into the water to encourage your dog to drink it. Diarrhea tends to dehydrate, and you want to be sure to make ample water available.

4. Keep your bichon warm and in a quiet environment. Although he may show signs of high energy and enthusiasm, his diarrhea is indicative of an unbalanced state of health. He should be treated with care until it is resolved.

5. Give your bichon 1 to 2 tablespoons of yogurt with each meal; you can also feed him yogurt as a snack or treat. It will help to soothe the intestinal tract.

Development Of A Bird Egg Embryo

Birds hatch from eggs

Birds reproduce by laying eggs. When a female's ovum is fertilized, the bird embryo begins to develop almost immediately while the mother's body builds the egg around the embryo.

Facts

Most female birds have two ovaries when embryos, but only the left ovary develops into a functional reproductive organ. The exceptions to this rule are birds of prey (hawks, falcons, etc.), who develop both ovaries into functional organs.

Consideration

Cell division begins while the egg is forming. Once the egg is laid, embryonic development stops until proper cell development environmental conditions are met again through incubation. If this does not occur, the embryo will not develop.

Timeframe

Incubation varies among the different bird species and lasts from as little as ten days for the cowbird to eighty days for the royal albatross. Most of the embryonic development occurs during incubation.

Features

The first feature visible in an egg is a pointed, thickened layer of cells at the tail end of the embryo. This feature is the primitive streak, from which the head and backbone form. The cardiovascular system, beak, limbs and respiratory system appear next. The claws and feathers are the last to develop.

Fun Fact

In birds, the female egg determines the sex of the hatchling rather than the sperm of the male.

Own A Pet Bobcat

Owning a bobcat can be a rewarding experience, but it requires a lifetime commitment to responsible ownership. By nature, bobcats are not domesticated animals, so owners must cater to this creature's natural predatory instincts and habitat.

Instructions

Prepare to Own a Pet Bobcat

1. Learn everything you can about owning a bobcat as a pet. Talk to others who own bobcats for insight. Research habits, behavior, needs and care requirements before bringing home your pet bobcat.

2. Research the laws and regulations for the area. While most homeowners can bring home a domesticated housecat or dog anytime they please, bobcats are an exception. Local laws and regulations may prohibit the containment of an exotic animal.

3. Visit the town zoning office for information on housing a pet bobcat. The residential area where you reside may not be properly zoned for such an animal. Check with zoning prior to making arrangements to bring home your bobcat.

4. Secure the licenses required for owning a pet bobcat prior to brining him or her home.

5. Prepare proper housing for your bobcat. Unlike a dog or housecat, bobcats cannot be given a 4 foot by 2 foot area and live happily ever after. Bobcats like to climb trees and need room to exercise. Since you will not be walking your bobcat, there needs to be plenty of room within the housing you provide for your bobcat to stretch its legs.

6. Be ready to make a lifetime commitment. Once obtained, you may not be able to find a new home for the bobcat if necessary. With the increase in exotic animal ownership in the past several years, animal rescues and sanctuaries have become unable to help owners who no longer wish to own their bobcats.

7. Secure a food provider and set up storage. Whether you decide to feed prepackaged commercial food, live prey or a combination of both, you need a supplier and storage for food deliveries. Storage may require a large freezer or a holding cage for live animals.

8. Arrange care with a veterinarian who is willing to treat your bobcat. Be ready to provide transportation to and from the veterinarian clinic, or make provisions for the veterinarian to visit your bobcat.

Diy Underground Tornado Shelter

Protect your family from the elements with an underground tornado shelter.

Underground tornado shelters are essential safe spaces for families living in areas where tornadoes are common. When it comes to options for home tornado shelters, there are a variety that can work for you and your family. You can install prefabricated tornado shelters inside or outside your home that already meet the storm shelter guidelines of the Federal Emergency Management Association (FEMA). You can also construct an underground storm shelter mostly without the use of prefabricated materials. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Contact FEMA and ask for a copy of their 320 "Safe Room" document or download it online (see Resources). This document outlines the federal rules and regulations for tornado and storm shelters. It also provides tips for safe design and construction.

2. Design your underground tornado shelter. Most storm shelters require a flat, square or oval room of several feet and a sloping staircase area. Consider how many people will be staying in the shelter when determining the size, allowing for seating as well as storage of emergency safety kits. Allow for a thick, reinforced wall and ceiling.

3. Call your gas, electric and water companies to determine the location of sensitive wiring and piping. Choose an area to construct your tornado shelter away from these areas. The tornado shelter should be located in close proximity to your house and should be easily accessible for all members of your family.

4. Measure, mark and dig out your tornado shelter according to your designs. Dig the flooring as level as possible. Dig the adjacent slope leading into the shelter to fit the staircase.

5. Dig holes around the perimeter of the shelter to house the shelter's posts. Place posts every 3 to 3 1/2 feet. Insert the 4-by-4s into the holes, then fill the holes with cement. Allow the cement to harden and dry. Install your water-barrier kit at the tops and bottoms of the holes.

6. Construct the cinder-block walls of all sides of the shelter, using mortar to join the blocks together. Construct the walls of the staircase ramp as well. Lay outdoor flooring stones on the floor to securely fit into the walls and secure them with mortar. Allow the mortar to harden and dry.

7. Attach crossbeams to each of the outside posts of the shelter using wooden screws. Lay sheet metal across the beams to create a roof. Drill holes into the metal and beams, then secure both by attaching them with heavy-duty bolts. Do this for all beams and metal sheets.

8. Install the prefabricated portions of your storm shelter, including the metal door and any ventilation systems, according to the directions provided in the packaging.

Common Vaccinations For Dogs

Dogs need certain vaccinations in order to stay healthy, as caccines prevent dogs from getting diseases and parasites. Vaccines work by injecting small or inactivated doses of the actual disease into the blood stream. While some vaccines are not absolutely necessary, it is still highly recommended to get them. Here are a few of the most common vaccinations for dogs.

Rabies Vaccine

Rabies in dogs is almost always fatal and can easily be spread to humans.

Kennel Cough Viruses Vaccine

These highly infectious viruses cause a loud, persistent cough, but Kennel Cough is rarely fatal.

Distemper Vaccine

Distemper attacks the respiratory system and typically results in seizures and death.

Parvovirus Vaccine

Parvovirus destroys white blood cells, which severely inhibits the immune system.

Lyme Disease

Lyme disease causes lethargy and arthritis. It is not a fatal disease.

Corona Virus Vaccine

Corona virus causes chronic diarrhea and is most often found in puppies.

Word Bar Mitzvah Invitations

The wording for Bar Mitzvah invitations should reflect the solemnity of the event.

A Bar (or Bat) Mitzvah is a solemn tradition, often combined with a joyous party. Invitations to these events tend to reflect this juxtaposition with a bright or contemporary invitation that features fairly formal, prescriptive wording. The purpose of the invitation is to announce the joyous occasion and to inform the guest of the event's proceedings; therefore, the wording of the invitation should be upbeat, straightforward and concise. The wording is in the first-person because it comes from the parents of the honoree.

Instructions

1. State the hosts' names and relationship to child, usually divided into three lines. For example, "[Parents' names] / invite you to share in our joy / as our son..."

2. State the child's first and middle name, usually its own line, centered, in large font.

3. Specify the event date and time in about three lines. For example, "is called to the Torah / as a Bar Mitzvah / on [day, date, year] at [time]."

4. Identify the location in three lines. For example, "[Temple name] / [street address] / [city, state, zip code]."

5. Invite the guest to the reception and give details for the location in three lines. For example, "Please join us for a reception / at [venue] / [street address] (do not include city state and zip code unless different from the temple's)."

6. Request an RSVP in two lines. For example, "Please respond by [date] / to [name and number]." If a response card is included, the second line should read, "using enclosed response card."

Get Free Dog Food Coupons

Dog food coupons are easy to obtain and can save you money.

If you have dogs, purchasing dog food is a necessary part of dog ownership. Depending on the number of dogs in your household, the price of dog food can be a major expense in a monthly budget. However, you should not be paying full price for dog food because there are a variety of resources to find valuable dog food coupons. Once you learn where to look for coupons, you will never pay full price for dog food again.

Instructions

1. Check your mail for dog food coupons. Many dog coupons arrive in the mail daily, in a coupon mailer. However, the selection of dog food brands may be limited to the brands available in grocery stores or discount retailers. Therefore, if your dog needs special food for her breed, dog food coupons available through the mail may not be a reliable source for you.

2. Save coupons on the dog food bag. Many dog food companies now include coupons on the dog food bag so you can purchase the next bag at a discount price. In addition, some dog food manufacturers attach a coupon to the bag to use when you purchase the dog food.

3. Pay attention to coupons available in pet stores. Dog food coupons may be available in the store's ads located at the front of the store or at the checkout counter. Ask a store employee about any available coupons when you arrive at the store.

4. Ask your veterinarian for dog food coupons at your next appointment. Veterinarian offices receive a multitude of coupons and free samples from pet food companies. In addition, sometimes a vet's office will have coupons for the higher end or specialty pet food.

5. Search the dog food brand name online. Many coupons are available from the manufacturer or a dog food coupon website. You can print the coupons out in the same day and take them into the store to purchase the dog food.

Train A Netherland Dwarf Rabbit

Netherland dwarf rabbits can make lovable pets.

Netherland dwarf rabbits, the smallest of all pure-bred rabbits, weigh in at about 2 pounds, and feature rounded bodies and short, upright ears. Often referred to as the "gems of the rabbit world," Netherland dwarf rabbits make appealing and gentle pets, and can live around 10 years with good care. Rabbits need plenty of time outside their cages to play and socialize; by training your rabbit to perform, you can enrich its life, promote bonding with you and give it both mental and physical stimulation. With patience, positive reinforcement and repetition, you can teach your Netherland dwarf rabbit to perform a surprising variety of tricks.

Instructions

1. Make sure your Netherland dwarf rabbit is teachable by providing it with a proper environment. Like all pet rabbits, your dwarf rabbit should be kept inside the house in a large cage or in a bunny-proofed room, visited often by household members. Not only is it inhumane to keep social creatures such as rabbits in isolation and boredom in outside hutches, it is not as easy to train rabbits that have been kept in such conditions.

2. Train your Netherland dwarf rabbit to use a litterbox by providing at least three clean litterboxes at all times. Use both covered and uncovered boxes to see which one your rabbit prefers, and place them in corners of the cage or room. If there is one area the rabbit favors for elimination, place a box there. When you see the bunny using the box, praise it and give it a treat.

3. When you see the rabbit eliminating outside the box, gently pick it up and place it in the litterbox. It's also a good idea to help along housebreaking by placing the rabbit in the box at 15-minute intervals.

4. Train your Netherland dwarf rabbit to come when called by sitting on the floor and waving a treat while calling its name softly. Like cats, rabbits seem to respond better to a high, sweet tone of voice. Give the treat the instant your rabbit approaches, and praise it.

5. Go around a corner when your rabbit has the hang of coming when called, and call its name. Most rabbits will waste no time in following the sound of your voice. This activity can even develop into a trick you can call "Come and find me."

6. Teach your Netherland dwarf rabbit rabbit to play fetch by getting its attention and tossing a ball of crumpled paper. More often than not, the rabbit will bound after it and pick it up in its teeth.

7. Pull out a treat that you have concealed in your pocket until now and call the rabbit, waving the treat. When the rabbit runs over to take the treat, it will drop the paper ball. Give the treat and praise the rabbit, saying, "Good bunny! Good fetch!" After the rabbit eats the treat and looks for more, throw the paper ball again.

8. Train your Netherland dwarf rabbit to sit up and beg by holding a treat at eye level to the rabbit, then slowly raising it, saying "Sit up and beg." The rabbit will instinctively raise on its haunches to get the treat. According to the Rabbit Agility website, this trick--which taps into normal rabbit behavior--is among the easiest to teach.

9. Fine-tune the "sit up and beg" trick by having your Netherland dwarf rabbit sit up for a moment before giving the treat. Many rabbits will do this trick on command after a while, without being enticed by a treat. Always praise your rabbit for cooperating.

10. Train your Netherland dwarf rabbit to jump through a hoop by having a friend hold the hoop on the ground in front of the rabbit while you stand between the hoop and the rabbit, waving a treat. If necessary, bring the treat through the hoop toward the rabbit's nose to entice it to hop over the hoop to take it. When the rabbit steps through, praise it, saying "Good bunny! Good jump!"and let it have the treat.

11. Move the hoop farther and farther from the ground as your rabbit gets more comfortable jumping through it. If the rabbit tries to run under it, the friend can lower the hoop so that the rabbit jumps through it; start again at lower heights, progressing more slowly this time. Soon, your rabbit should be sailing through the hoop.

Leash Laws In Orange County Florida

The state of Florida relinquishes the decision of whether or not to have leash laws to the county level, as there is no statewide leash law. If you are living in or traveling to Florida with a domestic animal, you need to check the leash laws of that particular county to keep you or your animal from getting into trouble with the authorities. Orange County, Florida, does have a leash law, requiring that animals to be controlled by their owners at all times.

Leash Laws

Within the Orange County code of ordinances, it states that all domestic animals must be on a leash when not within the owner's property. If an animal is found roaming without a leash, this is referred to as "running at large." If an Orange County authority finds your animal running at large, a warning or citation may be issued. The animal will be seized and impounded if authorities cannot identify an owner.

Seizing Animals

If your animal is seized by the authorities for running at large, the ordinances require that they animal be taken and held in a humane manner. The ordinances further state that if a person finds a stray animal, she should contact authorities within two days or else claim the animal as her own unless the owner is found within 30 days.

Other Important Information

Make sure your animal is wearing a collar stating your name, address and phone number. This way, if the animal if found running at large, the authorities can contact you.

Reasons for Leash Laws

These laws are intended to protect the safety of the people of Orange County. Such laws also protect the animals themselves. The ordinance states that any animal in heat should be contained within the owner's property. This protects both the female animal in heat and the male animals attracted to her.

Make A Raccoon Trap

Raccoon traps can be expensive, but you can build your own trap if you have the right equipment. Raccoons weigh up to 20 lbs., and can be ferocious if they are trapped or if they feel cornered. They usually live in hollowed out trees or animal dens that have been abandoned, but in the worst case scenario they may move into your home. If you have raccoons in the attic or under the house, it is only a matter of time before they learn to eat out of your garbage can on a regular basis. If you have a raccoon as an unwanted house guest, you can build a homemade raccoon trap to get rid of him.

Instructions

1. Grab your garbage can and place it next to the table. Pour approximately ten gallons of water into the garbage can, or until it is a third of the way full.

2. Balance your 2-foot-long wooden board between the table and garbage can. Make sure the end of the board is overhanging the lip of the garbage can by about ten inches. Put your bait on the end of the board above the garbage can.

3. Check your trap often. The weight of the raccoon will cause the board to flip it into the water when it goes for the bait. The raccoon's fur will be weighted down by water, so it cannot jump out of the garbage can, and the smooth sides of the can will prevent it from climbing out. You now have the raccoon trapped inside the garbage can.

4. Secure your garbage can. Put the lid on the garbage can on and tie it down with rope or bungee cords. Place the garbage can into your car or truck, making sure that it is secure and will not tip over during the drive.

5. Drive at least ten miles outside of town to release the animal. Lay the garbage can on its side and remove the lid quickly. Most times the raccoon will leave immediately. If not, wait patiently and the animal will eventually leave the can. The woods and countryside are good release locations for raccoons and will prevent an unwanted return to your home.

Long Load Redflag Law In Connecticut

Violation of Connecticut's "red-flag law" is considered a traffic infraction.

Connecticut's motor vehicle "red-flag law" is found in Chapter 246, Section 14-96(k) of the Connecticut code. The statute applies to three separate situations involving oversized loads: daytime transport, night-time transport, and oversized loads carrying live animals.

Oversized-Load Features

Oversized loads as described in the red-flag law are loads that protrude more than four feet "beyond the rear of the body of (a) vehicle." The law also applies to night-time transport of loads, transporting over-size loads under adverse driving conditions, and over-size loads carrying (or when stationary) unconfined animals. Oversized loads carrying a "fire apparatus" are not subject to the red-flag law.

Time & Conditions

The red-flag law requires that oversized loads transported on highways one-half hour before sunrise or one-half hour after sunset have attached a red flag or cloth "not less than twelve inches square" that is visible to cars approaching from the rear.

Red Light

The law requires that oversized loads carried at night or under adverse weather or adverse visibility conditions must have an affixed red light that is visible from up to 500 feet to drivers approaching from the rear.

Tell If A Dog Is Seizuring

Tell if a Dog is Seizuring

Epilepsy in canines is a recurring condition that can leave a pet owner concerned and worried. The seizures that present themselves during an epileptic episode can be especially unnerving. Knowing recognize the signs of an oncoming seizure, will better prepare you to handle the seizure itself. Most seizures last for about a minute and a half, and during that time making sure your pet is in a safe area, without the possibility of being injured is most important. The causes of a seizure vary, as do preventative medications. No matter how well your dog is cared for, or medically treated, a seizure can still occur. The following steps will show you what to look for at a seizure's onset, and what to do during the episode.

Instructions

1. Take notice of your dog's mannerisms. He may show signs such as staring or twitching at the onset of a seizure. He may also defecate or urinate during this time.

2. Look for unusual physical symptoms, such as falling sideways or laying on his side while making paddling motions with his legs. Whining and shaking, along with restlessness are also symptoms of impending seizure.

3. Prepare the area if you suspect that any of these symptoms are leading up to a seizure. Remove furniture from the immediate area, or anything that is sharp or can cause injury.

4. Do not panic when you become aware of a seizure coming on. Your dog needs you to remain calm and keep him safe during his seizure. Comfort your pet during this time by speaking softly to him.

Water Diabetes In Dogs

A dog with water diabetes will urinate more often than normal.

Getting up to let the dog out into the backyard can be irritating. If a young dog or puppy frequently needs to go outside to urinate and begins to drink more water than is usual, then it could be more than irritating. It could be a symptom of water diabetes.

Water Diabetes

Water diabetes, or diabetes insipidus, is not related to the more commonly known diabetes mellitus. Water diabetes has nothing to do with problems with a dog's blood sugar levels or insulin. Instead, it is caused by problems with a hormone called vasopressin that acts as an anti-diuretic. In dogs with water diabetes, either the pituitary gland does not produce enough vasopressin or the kidneys do not respond to the hormone, according to "The Merck/Merial Manual for Pet Health."

Symptoms

The most noticeable symptom of water diabetes in dogs is increased urination. A dog with water diabetes will drink much more water than is normal and will in turn need to urinate more often and in greater quantities. A dog with water diabetes is often moderately dehydrated. As the disease progresses, some dogs become anorexic and lose weight, according to the "Textbook of Small Animal Medicine."

Diagnosis

A veterinarian can perform a water deprivation test on a dog to determine if it is able to concentrate its urine. A dog with a problem with the pituitary gland will be able to concentrate its urine when given ADH. A dog with water diabetes caused by an issue with its kidneys will not be able to do so. Because this test can cause dehydration, it is important that a veterinarian monitor the dog through all stages of it.

Treatment

Water diabetes requires lifelong treatment for the affected dog. Pituitary gland-related diabetes insipidus can be treated by giving a dog another form of vasopressin. This hormone replacement can be administered daily through injections or through eye drops. Medications called thiazide diuretics can manage water diabetes that is caused by problems with a dog's kidneys. The dosage of these medications must be tailored to an individual dog's needs.

Considerations

While treatment for water diabetes in dogs can be expensive, dogs that receive it are expected to have a long life. Although the increased urination and potential for incontinence can be inconvenient, it is important to never restrict a dog from a source of water. A dog with water diabetes can quickly become dehydrated, leading to other health issues, according to the "UC Davis Book of Dogs."

Feed Baby Alligators

Feed Baby Alligators

Caring for baby alligators, or hatchlings, requires special knowledge, and you must carefully consider what will happen to your pet once it reaches an unmanageable size. Because alligators grow about a foot a year until they reach maturity, it will not be long until you have a pet that is able to do significant damage to you, your family and your home. It is illegal to keep alligators as pets in many states, and many of those where it is legal require you to have the proper permits or licenses. You can successfully feed your pet baby alligator by using common sense and following a few important guidelines.

Instructions

1. Choose foods such as small fish, insects, crawfish, small mice and frogs. Alligators eat whole food in the wild, so do not feed your hatchling a steady diet of meat pieces. They need the calcium and other nutrients found in whole food.

2. Use unfrozen, raw and preferably live food to feed your hatchling or young gator. They have sensitive digestive systems and cannot handle cooked or frozen foods. Thaw any frozen or partially frozen food first before feeding it to the hatchling.

3. Feed your hatchling every other day; juveniles every three or four days. Alligators will eat as much and as often as you let them, so keep to a strict schedule. Overfeeding will lead to gout.

4. Use a utensil to feed your hatchling so that both you and the baby get used to not associating your hands with food. This will help prevent confusion, which could be deadly later on.

5. Set up a feeding routine and schedule. Feed your hatchling at the same time of day, using the same method and in the same location. While you cannot "train" an alligator, you can keep him calm by keeping things predictable.

Obtain An Exotic Pet License In Florida

Florida allows some exotic pets with a permit.

Pets provide companionship and entertainment. To add novelty to the mix, some pet owners go for the more exotic ocelot over the common house cat or upgrade from a dog to a wolf. Keeping exotic pets in Florida requires a license issued by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) to ensure the safety of both your animal and the public. Florida rules also protect indigenous wildlife from nonnative species. Some animals, not surprisingly, are prohibited for personal possession -- such as lions or tigers. Meet the FWC license requirements and enjoy the Florida sunshine with your exotic pet.

Instructions

1. Florida considers wolves as a Class II animal.

Check the FWC's list of Captive Wildlife Categories for your potential exotic pet. Class I covers the most dangerous carnivores and primates, such as lions, tigers, chimpanzees and gorillas. Florida prohibits owning Class I animals as pets. Class II animals include smaller carnivores and primates, such as monkeys, wolves and coyotes. Class III animals are not specified. Consider any animal not on the Class I or II list as Class III. Florida allows personal possession of Class II and III animals for qualified individuals. Certain reptiles, such as certain species of pythons and anacondas, pose a threat to native Florida wildlife, so the FWC prohibits use of these animals as pets.

2. Know what you will do with your exotic pet in case of emergency.

Complete the Florida Captive Wildlife Critical Incident/Disaster Plan. You need to provide information about yourself, emergency contacts and your veterinarian. Describe your plan for the exotic animal in case of a natural disaster -- such as a Florida hurricane -- or a fire or other emergency.

3. Fill out the FWC Class III Personal Use Application and Questionnaire if your exotic pet falls into Class III -- any animal that does not fall into Class I and II. The questionnaire assesses your knowledge of your exotic pet. Return the completed application and questionnaire to the address specified on the application.

4. Complete the PPL --- License to Possess Wildlife for Personal Use form if your exotic animal is a pet that falls into Class II. The application requires that you attach proof your exotic pet does not violate current zoning laws. FWC rules require that you have sufficient knowledge and experience with your animal, and you will also need to document this on the application. Current Florida exotic pet license fees and FWC contact information can be found on the application.

5. Post a Florida surety bond if required to obtain the license for your exotic pet. Contact a certified surety company licensed to do business in Florida. You will need to complete an application with the surety company, possibly post collateral and pay a fee for the bond. Forward the bond along with your other completed license paperwork and the applicable fees to the address specified on your particular application. If approved, your license will then be issued.

5. Close the note with a simple yet professional sentiment, such as "sincerely," "respectfully" or "regards" followed by your name. Sign and print your name.

The website offers a selection of more than 30 different animals to create, however it's also possible to "adopt" a Neopet from their Neopian Pound. The Neopian Pound features pets who have been created and abandoned by their owners and sometimes has rare Neopets available.

Instructions

Adopt a Neopet

1. Open your Internet browser and navigate to www.neopets.com. Create a new free account or log in to your existing account.

2. Select "Pet Central" and "Neopian Pound" from the top menu bar. When the page loads an image featuring three doors labeled Adopt, Transfer and Abandon will appear. Click "Adopt".

Get My Dog Not To Be Afraid Of People

Dogs can overcome their fear of people with training and patience.

When you bring a dog home, whether it is from a shelter, breeder or foster home, the process can be challenging for your new family member. Many dogs are fearful of people, sometimes due to past abuse, natural anxiety, or lack of socialization. With patience, desensitization techniques, and positive reinforcement, you can help your dog overcome fear of people.

Instructions

1. Expose your dog to as many people as possible, making sure you instruct them not to force themselves on the dog. You want him to feel that people are not a threat, so protect him from unwanted attention.

The earlier you start in the dog's life, the more successful you will be; however, the process also may work with a shy adult dog. Some dogs never get over their shyness, however, in which case you must manage the behavior by not putting him in situations where he is afraid.

2. Instruct people that come to your home to speak in a soft tone of voice, move slowly with their hands kept at their sides, and not to make eye contact with the dog. Additionally, ask them to sit or squat once they enter your home; dogs feel less anxious when people are on their level. Show people touch a dog appropriately: never pat on top of the head (which is a canine show of dominance); but scratch behind the ears or under the throat.

3. Implement people-oriented training. Take along treats when you walk your dog, giving the treats to cooperative people you meet along the way. Hand them treats to give to the dog; praise him for accepting. In this manner, you are building a positive association between your dog and people.

4. Continue your desensitization training on a daily basis until your dog's fears disappear, or at least are reduced.

Feed A Pet Lion

Pet lions require a high fat, high protein diet. Without a properly balanced diet, a pet lion can be susceptible to eye sight problems, heart conditions and a weakened immune system. These problems are rare in the wild where lions consume entire animals for food, but in captivity it is your responsibility to provide proper nutrition to your pet lion and avoid illness.

Instructions

Feed Your Pet Lion

1. Feed your lion by sliding his food off a tray and placing the food on the ground. Pet lions have been known to take metal or plastic bowls and destroy them in a matter of seconds because they do not understand the concept of eating out of a container.

2. Pay close attention to the amount of calcium you feed to your baby lion. To provide adequate calcium, feed your baby lion bones with a small amount of meat attached once or twice a week. Bones also works like a toothbrush for your lion by cleaning tarter from the teeth when chewed.

3. Provide portion control for your pet lion. In the wild, lions eat their large prey in one sitting and then fast for several days before hunting again. Because captivity does not allow for lions to find their own food you must provide them with enough food for each day. Your pet lion should eat between 15 to 25 pounds a day of food, or roughly 5 to 7 percent of his body weight.

4. Feed your pet lion a commercial prepared diet for balanced nutrition. While prepared food will not allow your pet lion the pleasure of dissecting its prey before eating it entirely, your lion will have all the nutrients it needs.

5. Mirror your lion's natural eating habits by feeding a diet of raw, chunk meat. Feed your lion red meat or horse meat if it is available for its nutritional value. Just as lions would eat in the wild, alternate 5 days of chunk meat, and then allow them to fast for 1 or 2 days.

Remove Microchip Implants

A small microchip can help bring your dog home if he is ever lost or stolen

Microchip implants are a safe and reliable way for pet owners to locate their pet in the event it is lost or stolen. The microchip is a small transponder that, when used with a microchip registry service, can sends a signal that tracks the animal's location. These chips can work for up to 25 years, depending on the brand. In the event that it stops working, or causes some sort of medical complication, such as an infection, it may be necessary to remove it.

Instructions

1. Contact the veterinarian or animal shelter that inserted the microchip.

2. Ask for information on the microchip's brand and model, and where the microchip was inserted on your pet.

3. Schedule an appointment with your veterinarian to have the chip surgically removed. Because this is a surgery, your pet may be exposed to anesthesia.

4. Keep the location of the incision clean. Reduce the risk of infection at the removal-site by covering it with gauze until it heals.

5. Contact the company with which your microchip was registered. If you do not complete this step, you may continue to be charged for its services, even though the microchip is no longer in use.

Deduct Pet Insurance For Business Taxes

Whether pet insurance is deductible depends on your business.

Pet insurance helps you face unexpected veterinary bills and ensures that your pet will receive the care it needs when the situation calls for it. Depending on the insurance plan, pet insurance may cover vaccinations, infections, injuries and even life-threatening conditions such as cancer. If you want to deduct this expense from business tax calculations, you will need to prove that your pet is common and helpful for the type of business you run.

Definition

According to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), tax deductions can be made on the cost of carrying on a trade or business. A deductible business expense has to be both ordinary and necessary. In other words, it has to be common in your trade or business, and it has to be helpful and appropriate for your trade or business. The expense does not have to be indispensable for it to be considered necessary and therefore deductible.

Identification

Expenses used to pay for personal, living or family purposes cannot be deducted against business tax. However, if an expense is used partly for business and partly for other purposes, you can deduct the tax on the business part. For example, if you have a home office, you may be able to deduct taxes on your mortgage interest, insurance, utilities, repairs and depreciation.

Insurance Expenses

Generally, cost of insurance can be deducted if it is ordinary and necessary for your trade or business. Common deductible insurance premiums include fire insurance, employee medical insurance, liability insurance, malpractice insurance and vehicle insurance. Some insurance premiums that cannot be deducted include loss of earnings insurance, loan insurance and life insurance covering employees that name you as the beneficiary.

Deducting Pet Insurance Expense

Taking into consideration the criteria for deductible business expenses, a pet insurance would normally not be deductible because a pet is usually not common and necessary to most businesses. However, you may be able to deduct the expense if you can prove that pet insurance is a common expense in your business, and that pet insurance is helpful and appropriate to your business. For example, if your business is breeding animals, you may be able to claim their insurance expenses against your business tax. Consult your accountant for personalized advice that is appropriate for your business.

The Future of Pet-Related Expenses

In 2009, a proposal was introduced into the Congress to allow pet owners to deduct up to $3,500 for pet-care expenses. The proposed legislation was designed to ensure adequate care for pets and encourage responsible pet ownership. Unfortunately, the proposal, known as the Humanity and Pets Partnered Through the Years (HAPPY), is not popular. According to the Rasmussen Reports, only 25 percent of U.S. voters favor the proposal, while 71 percent oppose it and 4 percent are undecided.

Cheats For "Naruto Ultimate Battle"

"Naruto: Ultimate Battle" is a flash-based, 2D fighting game. Players take on the role of one of the characters from the eponymous anime and play through the chunin exams arc of the show. The chunin exams take the form of a fighting tournament. As is the case for the vast majority of flash games, there are no cheats; however, there are unlockable characters.

Kyuubi Naruto

When he was a small child, Naruto's village was attacked by a monstrously powerful nine-tailed fox demon named Kyuubi. The village ninja were unable to defeat Kyuubi, but they did seal it away in Naruto. This occurred before the original anime, but has been recounted in the series. In times of great stress, Naruto can draw on the demon's power, becoming an unstoppable opponent. To unlock Kyuubi Naruto and play as his character, first you must play as Naruto and press the "Special" button and the "Up" button. This will temporarily transform Naruto into Kyuubi Naruto. Do this five times, and you can select Kyuubi Naruto as your character.

Kakashi

Kakashi Hatake is a powerful ninja from Naruto's village. He is one of Naruto's teachers, and the leader of Team 7, the students who fight alongside Naruto in the chunin exam tournament. He uses elemental jutsu attacks, including lightning, earth, water, and fire. To unlock him, beat the game three times, once as Naruto, once as Sasuke, and once as Sakura.

Orochimaru

Orochimaru is the main antagonist of the first arc of the Naruto series, and he plays a major role in the second part. Orochimaru's overriding goal is to learn every jutsu and fighting technique in the world, and he often stoops to human experimentation and outright murder to accomplish this. To play as Orochimaru, play the game as Naruto twice, Sasuke twice, Sakura twice, Rock Lee twice, and Neji twice. This will make Orochimaru appear in the character selection screen.

Extreme Mode

Beating the game three times, once on Easy, once on Normal, and once on Hard will unlock the hardest game setting, Extreme Mode. In Extreme Mode opponents are quicker, are more aggressive, take less damage, and deal more damage to you.

Get Donations For A Nonprofit Organization

Many companies and individuals assist nonprofit organizations with financial contributions.

Nonprofit organizations support a wide variety of causes that rely, almost entirely, on donations. Many companies and individuals assist nonprofit organizations by providing financial and other types of contributions. However, most people who work for and raise money for nonprofits understand that action must be taken to ensure regular donations.

Instructions

1. Create a case statement, which according to Entrepreneur.com, is a written document that tells prospective donors how their donations will be used and how the donation will positively impact the community or cause. Include the goal of the organization, anticipated results, accomplishments achieved by the nonprofit and the history of the establishment.

2. Request grants from the government or from specific companies (see Resources).

3. Research companies that give charitable donations or that might benefit from donating to your organization. For instance, if you are raising money for a local animal shelter, request donations from nearby vet clinics, pet stores and similar establishments.

4. Use mailers, such as direct-mail and e-mail requests, to solicit donations from individuals and companies.

5. Host events to raise money--luncheons, formal dinners, golf tournaments and carnivals.

6. Get involved with social media to increase your organization's exposure and solicit donations.

7. Offer online contests. For example, a nonprofit designed to teach literacy might host an online short story contest. Individuals could pay a contest fee, submit a story and potentially win a prize. To reduce costs to the nonprofit, donations from local companies could be requested for prizes for the contest.

Multitasking Flash Games

Multitasking requires the ability to act and think quickly under pressure, and maintain the ability to do more than one task. While multitasking may showcase an ability to juggle multiple jobs, it may result in frustration and drops in productivity. Mulitasking flash games offer a fun outlet for anyone seeking to put their multitasking abilities to the test, without facing any pressure or serious consequences.

Fourstoil: The Art of Multitasking

Players take on four challenges simultaneously in "Fourstoil: The Art of Multitasking," accessible at sites like GamesLark. For games that involve answering mathematical equations and hitting a target symbol, players must keep the yellow bar fully loaded as they click numerical keys and the target symbol. Other challenges include pressing the "Up," "Down," "Left" and "Right" arrow keys to navigate balls away from walls. The game ends when a yellow bar runs out or if a ball touches a wall.

Multitask

Starting out with one mini game, players prepare to take on additional games simultaneously in "Multitask," accessible at sites like Kongregate. As players press the "Left" and "Right" arrow keys to keep a ball balanced on a platform, another mini game soon appears, requiring players to press the "Up" and "Down" arrows to move the blue color vertically and avoid spikes coming from the left and right. The game continues in this manner, with new mini games appearing as time passes. The game ends when players make one error.

Multitasking

Players tackle dangerous activities with a square named "Blue" in "Multitasking," accessible at sites like Flash Ninja Can. After choosing a difficulty mode, players enter a board in which they try multitasking two games simultaneously. For games appearing at the top of the screen, players use the directional arrow keys to avoid touching flames and sharpened spikes. In games appearing at the bottom of the screen, players juggle egocentric eggs and hit puffy pillows. The game ends when players make one error.

Multitasking 2

Players once again tackle dual multitasking tasks with "Blue," the square in this sequel to "Multitasking," accessible at sites like GameSerpent. Before starting their multitask challenge, players select their difficulty mode. For games appearing at the top of the screen, players move a blue square around a maze to collect greens, and help a blue square avoid a collision with a red square. When playing the bottom games, players catch green objects, avoid red objects and use the blue square to deflect a ball. The game ends when players make one error.

Good Community Service Projects

A good community project depends on volunteers.

Community organizations may have paid staff, but most could not operate without their volunteers. It is community volunteers that organize any number of service projects, recruit other volunteers and see the service project to completion. Many high schools also require students to complete a community service project in order to graduate.

Library

Public libraries often have any number of needs and use volunteers to re-shelve books left out by patrons, read to children and assist those with disabilities. Along with the high, wide shelves, sometimes libraries require smaller, wooden shelves, especially accessible for children or for other purposes. A valuable community service project would be to provide shelves for the library.

If you are not handy with tools, gather a committee to set down needs and goals and begin a fund-raising campaign. Ask businesses to donate prizes and/or money. Ask the media for coverage of the project. If the shelves are for the children's section, get the children involved with prizes for their participation as well. Once the money is donated, give prizes to those who worked hard as well as those who got the most donations. Buy the shelves and, with those present who helped and donated along with the media, present the shelves to the library.

Not all community service projects require a committee. If you have some expertise in construction, offer your services in building a needed shelf or two. Be sure to follow library directions as to size, weight, etc. Shelves need to be solid enough not to be easily tipped over.

Along with shelves, libraries are often short of step stools. While not glamorous, buying or making steps stools as a community service project is an important contribution.

Adopt-A-Highway Program

Keeping roads clear of litter and trash is a continuing problem. Individuals, schools and/or organizations can "adopt" a section of road as a community service project. This can be a one-time clean up or an adoption lasting for a period of months or years. There is also an Adopt-A-Highway Program that works with corporate sponsors and states. Your business or organization can pay to see that a road section is properly cleaned and maintained. You can also be a volunteer for the program to help clean up the highways.

Even if there is no formal program in place, a community service project would be to choose a portion of a roadway and take the initiative to clean up the trash on both sides of the highway on a regular basis. Publicizing your efforts and encouraging others to do the same extends what one person or organization can do when others join in the effort to keep the roads and highways clean.

Organize a Blood Drive

Red Cross centers need blood and platelet donations. They need volunteers willing donate one or both. This need skyrockets during crisis situations. A good community service project is not just to donate blood and/or platelets yourself, but also to organize friends, family and the community to do the same. You can do this informally or you can work with the Red Cross for a wider impact.

Haircuts For Cats

The Sphinx breed of cats are naturally bald and don't encounter problems with matting.

Most people are familiar with the reasons dogs get their hair cut, but not so much with cats. Cats get their hair cut, too, and it is becoming a more common procedure. Unlike with certain breeds of dogs such as poodles, cats are not generally trimmed to achieve a breed-specific look. Haircuts are given to cats primarily for grooming and health reasons.

Mat Control

Longhair cats are prone to matting.

One common reason to give a cat a haircut is to prevent and remove mats. Medium to longhair cats develop mats in areas where the hair rubs together, such as in their armpits and groin. Trying to comb mats out is tedious and often painful for the cat. Leaving the matted fur alone is worse, as it continues to pull on the underlying skin and causes irritation.

Skin Conditions

Animals have allergies just like people, and some cause skin irritation.

Another reason to cut a cat's hair is a skin condition. Parasites, allergies and infections all cause hair loss in cats. Shaving the coat also makes treating the conditions easier, especially if the cat is infested with fleas.

Ease of Care for the Owner

Short hair is easier to manage.

Many people get a longhair cat, only to realize that caring for the coat takes more time than expected. When this happens, some people surrender the cat to a shelter. What many don't consider is getting the cat's hair cut. Often, just taking off some of the length makes the coat more manageable for both the cat and the owner.

Style for Cats

When shaving a cat, electric clippers are used.

There are some haircuts for cats that are intended to help with their care as well as look stylish. One such cut is the lion cut. This cut leaves the face and neck hair (or the "mane") alone, shaves the body, legs and most of the tail, but leaves a tuft of hair on the end of the tail. Another style is to shorten the length of the hair around the face and on the neck, shave the entire body but leave the fur long on the the tail. Some groomers adjust the clippers for a cut that basically turns a longhair cat into a shorthair cat.

Tax Benefits For Having A Small Farm

Being a small farm owner entitles you to certain tax benefits, but careful attention must be paid to keep accurate and detailed records. The IRS requires that you show a clear intent to make a profit. If you do not show a clear intent to profit from your small farm, the IRS may re-classify your farm as a hobby instead of a farm business. If your farm gets re-classified as a hobby you will not be able to enjoy the tax benefits of owning a small farm.

Equipment Purchases

Any equipment purchased for the running and maintenance of your small farm can be used as a tax deduction for your small farm. The IRS gives several different options for claiming and depreciating farm equipment. You can choose to use a seven-year MACRS, Modified Accelerated Cost Recovery System, depreciation method or use a special one-time 179 deduction in the year you purchased the equipment. Farm equipment can be anything from a tractor to a trailer. It is important to note the exact date that you purchase the equipment as this will be the date the IRS uses to start determining depreciation.

Tax Deductions for Livestock

If your small farm includes livestock, such as horses, cattle or goats, you can deduct the farm costs associated with these animals. Tax deductible fees include veterinarian fees, hay and grain, immunizations and registration fees. If you have livestock that dies during the tax year you can also claim a loss on the animal that died. If your farm purchases livestock for re-sale; the price you paid for the livestock is deducted from the price you sold the livestock at. Livestock that is kept for breeding purposes can also be depreciated in the same way that farm equipment is depreciated.

Crop Deductions

If your small farm grows crops, such as flowers, vegetables or even hay, many of the fees for growing your crops can be used as a tax deduction. Any fees for seeds, fertilizer or even fuel to harvest your crops should be listed as a farm business expense. If you pay crop insurance you can also list the insurance premium as a farm business expense. If you have crop losses this is also an allowable tax deduction. However, if your crop was insured and you received an insurance payment to cover the loss, different rules will apply.

Advertising, Travel and Miscellaneous Fees

Any marketing and advertising you pay to promote your small farm should be listed as a farm expense and deduction. Advertising can be anything from running a website to print and radio ads. Travel to industry shows or seminars to further your farm knowledge can also be used as a tax deduction. Professional fees, such as paying a tax attorney or membership in industry associations, is also tax deductible.

Fish Raising Games

This situation rarely arises with virtual fish.

There are a number of options when it comes to fish-raising games. Some games are available free, while others must be purchased. These games vary widely in style of play and content. Some games, such as "Fish Tycoon," present a fairly realistic view of fish care and breeding. A game such as "Insaniquarium," on the other hand, focuses on fast action and game play, and lets realism fall by the wayside.

Not all fish-related games can be considered fish-raising games. For example, the XGen Studios-produced "Fishy" does not qualify, as the player takes the part of a fish, not someone raising fish.

"Fish Tycoon"

"Fish Tycoon" is produced by Big Fish Games, and is intended to simulate fish-breeding. The player takes the role of owning a virtual fish store, and begins the game with a small selection of fish, a small amount of game money and an aquarium to hold the fish. The game focuses on breeding and caring for fish, with a few business decisions to be made along the way. Rare species of fish can be sold in the game, with the proceeds used to buy food, medicine and advertising for the player's virtual fish store. "Fish Tycoon" operates in real-time in that the simulation will continue to run even if the player's computer is turned off.

"Insaniquarium"

"Insaniquarium" is produced by PopCap Games, and is available in both free and pay versions. The goal of "Insaniquarium" is to advance through as many levels as possible. Fish start out small on each level, and must be fed at regular intervals in order to grow. Fish start to drop coins once they reach a certain size, and the player must collect these coins to pass each level. Higher levels expand the types of fish and power-ups available. Aliens periodically invade the tank, which almost never happens in real-life fish-raising situations. Players must shoot the aliens to prevent them from killing the fish.

"Virtual FishTank"

Developed by Nearlife, "Virtual FishTank" allows players to create their own fish and release them into the "Virtual FishTank" exhibits located at the St. Louis Science Center and the Boston Museum of Science. Players may "build" up to four fish at a time, choosing to develop fish similar to existing ones or modify their fish to resemble nothing seen in nature.

"Facinity"

"Facinity" allows users to create an online virtual aquarium. "Facinity" is free to use, but registration is required. Players design their tank through the Aquarium Configuration Panel. Options include aquarium size, background selection, fish selection, fish modification and various decorations.

"Fishferous"

Game play in "Fishferous" also focuses on the creation of a virtual online aquarium, allowing players to configure their tank's background and decorations. The goal is to keep the fish happy and well-fed so that they will grow to adulthood. In addition, maintaining the tank properly allows the player to breed the fish under his care.

Efficient Alternative Home Heating

Efficient home heating saves valuable natural resources, creates cleaner living and saves money soon after it has been installed. Of course, the best time to install a energy efficient alternative heating system is when a home is being designed and built. Does this Spark an idea?

Home Design

When designing a home to be heating efficient, you want to create an energy wall. This is the side of the home that gets the most sunlight, usually the south-facing side of the home. Sunlight can be harnessed by solar panels or simply by creating large windows with easy-to-use window covering that can be opened in mornings and closed at night.

Other architectural design ideas are to use earth-sheltered home designs. These use the earth's natural insulation properties to keep a home retaining it's heat. A home that is partially underground or against a mountain can retain heat in cold seasons and maintain coolness in hot seasons.

Ventilation Features

Heat will rise; this is a known scientific fact that every homeowner should consider. Vents should be kept low to the floor and positioned to span the floor. This allows the heat to move across and up, warming all the air. Being able to separate the venting system into two components to warm different parts of the home are a great idea. You may want heat downstairs during the day without suffocating anyone upstairs.

Determining Your Ideal Alternative Source

Determining your ideal alternative heat source requires looking at your budget, the natural resources that are available to your home and maintenance that is required for the system.

While solar panels are less expensive (ranging from $1,000-$5,000 average home cost), they may require more maintenance due to wind, tree or animal damage. Geothermal is more expensive ($10,000-$30,000 average home cost) but is a more durable system with minimum maintenance needs. Maintenance is required to keep the pump working efficiently and keep the system free from obstructions.

If moving water is a readily accessible resource, micro-hydro systems can be installed for under $2,000. These systems can often be installed yourself with most problems being the water source dissipating.

Be A Guard Dog Trainer

Mastiffs are loyal, calm and protective --- important traits in a guard dog.

The term "guard dog" brings to mind images of vicious, junkyard dogs taking a bite out of anyone who encroaches on their territory. In actuality, they are highly-trained dogs taught by skilled professionals who have had specialized schooling to ensure the dog acts effectively and obediently. Becoming a guard dog trainer takes more than just a love of dogs, however. It requires a knowledge of dog breeds, characteristics, behavior and psychology. Proper schooling will teach you to train dogs and start your own business, with skills like bookkeeping, marketing, class organization and client service.

Instructions

1. Study the basic traits and qualities of different dog breeds. If you do not own a dog, consider acquiring one as a pet. Visit dog shelters and volunteer to learn the traits of different dog breeds. For example, English mastiffs are calm and easily-trained, as opposed to higher-energy German shepherds that require a lot of exercise and attention. Learning the origins of the breed will also help you get a better idea of temperament. For instance, shepherd dogs were originally bred as sheep herders, which is why they are energetic. Bookstores often carry books on puppy/dog training and knowledgeable staff at shelters can guide you in learning dog behavior.

2. Find a school that specializes in protection training. Different schools offer varying curriculum, and some offer online classes --- try to locate a school in your area that you can visit before signing up. Guard dog training is an advanced form of dog training, and not offered by all training schools. A good program should cover the history of training, obedience training, safety, protection training and business skills. Some programs, such as the Animal Behavior College, require you to spend a certain number of hours in a shelter, and include business skills like public speaking and designing classes for clients.

3. Join a professional organization such as the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers, which tests and nationally certifies dog trainers. Because most states do not regulate dog training education, becoming certified and joining a professional organization shows that you meet a certain level of education and have met professional standards for dog training. This will enhance your reputation and help build a business or obtain a job after school. Many professions require people to be certified by a professional organization to uphold reputation and ethical standards, such as nurses and doctors.

4. Decide if you want to start your own business or find a job working for someone else. Owning a dog-training business can wield greater financial reward, flexibility and freedom, but can be time-consuming and take a great deal of effort. Marketing and networking are often a full-time job alone, and many business owners work long hours to obtain clients. Getting a job with an established company will trim down hours and time-consuming activities like managing a website. Always check with your town and state for regulations before starting a business.

Introduce A Puppy To A Senior Dog

When you're ready to add a puppy to a family that contains a senior dog, you should carefully consider your senior dog's needs to make sure the puppy fits in. Your senior dog may be grumpy when first meeting the new puppy, but she should eventually accept him and, hopefully, discover a way to stay young at heart.

Instructions

1. Evaluate your senior dog to make sure you choose a puppy that fits into your dog's life. Watch especially how he reacts to dogs he meets on walks or at the park. Notice which dogs he's naturally drawn to and which inspire fear or submission. For the happiest household, you need to choose a puppy that has the qualities your dog finds attractive.

2. Introduce your dog to the puppy in a neutral space. If you're adopting the puppy from an individual or facility, bring your dog to the adoption with you. If this isn't possible, have someone meet you with the puppy at an unfamiliar park. Allow her to meet the puppy while both of them are on leash.

3. Talk to both the puppy and your dog, but pay more attention to your dog. Talk in a positive tone so he associates the puppy with a good experience. He'll likely sniff and greet her. Give them both a treat after they briefly greet each other.

4. Be positive, even if your dog growls at the puppy. Puppies push limits, so your dog may just be setting a boundary for the puppy. However, interrupt the interaction if growling continues or if you see aggressive body language from your dog.

5. Take the puppy home with you in a different vehicle. If that's not possible, crate the puppy to curb her natural energy and enthusiasm. At home, let your senior dog enter first.

6. Monitor interactions between your senior dog and the puppy for the first few weeks. The puppy is bound to irritate your dog, so you should expect growling and snarling. These behaviors help socialize your new puppy and are a positive experience for him. If your dog tries to act aggressively, intervene immediately but don't punish your dog.

7. Set up a designated puppy area and ensure that your senior dog has her own retreat. If possible, keep your new puppy primarily in an area that your senior dog isn't attached to. This way, your dog won't feel as if her life is being marginalized by the puppy.

8. Keep the rituals that you and your senior dog have created, but include the puppy in them as often as possible. You want to make your dog feel like he hasn't lost any standing in his family, and help him see the puppy as someone he can find happiness with.

Game Hints For "Pokemon Diamond Version" For The Nintendo Ds

Pokemon video games have been made into several TV series and films.

"Pokemon Diamond Version" was released for the Nintendo DS in 2007. Your mission in the game is to find and catch one of every type of Pokemon in the game, battling other Pokemon trainers and winning Pokemon Gym badges along the way. Although much of the game is fairly self-explanatory, several hints and tips will help you get the most out of the game.

Build a Varied Party

Pokemon come in 15 different classes, and every class is strong or weak when pitted against certain others. You can't go through the game with just one strong Pokemon because you will eventually come up against a trainer or gym leader with the right Pokemon to take it down. Your six traveling Pokemon should cover enough of a variety to win most battles. One good mix would have one electric-type, one fire-type, one water-type, one flying-type, one rock or fighting-type and one psychic or dark-type. Having these Pokemon types at a decent Level should enable you to win any battle.

Use the Exp. Share

You can get the Exp. Share item from Professor Rowan's assistant in Eterna City. This is a vital item because it gives experience points to the Pokemon holding it, even if it doesn't take part in a battle. You can level up weaker Pokemon while battling with your stronger ones, which will allow you to build up a strong party more quickly.

Keep Fighting the Elite Four

The Elite Four is a succession of very tough battles at the end of the Johto region of the game. Don't worry about beating them first time but, instead, fight them as often as possible. You gain a lot of experience points for taking out just one of the Elite Four's Pokemon and earn lots of money for each Elite Four member that you beat. After defeating the Elite Four, you can start over and fight them all again, gaining even more experience and money.

Look for Shaking Grass

Walking through the long grass in the game will cause a wild Pokemon to jump out and battle you, so this is a good place to roam around to gain experience points. Always keep an eye out for any grass that is shaking. If you run into shaking grass, a rare Pokemon may jump out, giving you a chance of catching it for your Pokedex and your party.

Use the Pokemon Daycare

You can leave two Pokemon at the Day Care Center in Solacean Town. Although it costs $100, it's a small price to pay for the benefits. For every step you take in the game, the Pokemon in the Day Care will get one experience point. Because you take hundreds of steps just to get from one town to another, this is a great way to level up Pokemon fast. The catch is that you don't get to choose which moves the Pokemon learn as they level up, but you can always teach them with Technical Machines.

Spend Money Wisely

Don't waste your hard-earned cash. You can earn only a limited amount of money, and you will need it to buy health and status-repair sprays and many Pokeballs. Use the option to send part of your winnings to your Mom. This is a good way of saving some back-up cash.

Fight Everyone

You will encounter trainers spaced out in the gaps between each town in the game. Although you can get around them without battling, you should fight each trainer. You need to get all of the experience points and money you can get, and battling other trainers is the very best way to get both quickly. If they ask for your phone number, give it to them so you can go back and battle them again later.

It Ain't Over 'Til It's Over

Don't expect the game to finish after you've beaten the Johto Pokemon League and the Champion. If you keep going and reload the game after the end credits have run, you can gain access to Kanto, a whole new region. In Kanto, you can battle eight more gym leaders and encounter much tougher trainers and a whole range of new Pokemon.
